Beijing: A Capital of Flavors!

As China’s capital, Beijing is home to some of the country’s most famous restaurants! The variety of flavors available have sparked up a local “foodie culture.” Every one of the country’s provinces is proudly represented by their hometown’s cuisine. From the famous Peking Roast Duck to countless other flavors like Sichuan hotpot, Xinjiang skewers, and Canton Dim Sum.

Additionally, foreign influence is not lost in the city. As one of China’s most international cities, Beijing also boasts a number of foreign restaurants. These showcase everything from classic French and Italian, to Indian, Mexican, and numerous others.

Beyond the food itself, the environment you are in can really make a meal something memorable. As such, we compiled a list of 4 restaurants in Beijing with a spectacular view.

1. F Bistronome (Central Business District)

On the 7th floor of China World Mall, with unbeatable views of the CCTV Tower, is F Bistronome. This restaurant blends a modern style with classic French cuisine, providing its visitors with an authentic home dining experience. A sort of “French comfort food among skyscrapers.”

The food made here comes from traditional recipes, passed down through generations. Lunch and dinner set menus feature an option of two pre-starter platters from 15 options, main dishes of meat, fish or pasta, and delicious desserts. Try some delicious French classics and definitely don’t forget to order their famous puffed soufflé.

2. China Grill (Chaoyang District)

Sitting at the summit of the Park Hyatt tower, China Grill offers an amazing 360-degree view of the city. All from within this glass “Chinese lantern” on the 66th floor of the tower. The atmosphere is calming, surrounding you with small trees and water. Of course, you will find a vast assortment of meat, fish, and seafood.

Aside from its cityscape views, guests rave about the steak, lobster, breakfast menu, and cocktails. The restaurant offers both classic Chinese and Western dishes. Drop by, grab a glass of wine, and view the heart of the city from a bird’s-eye perspective.

3. Migas

Introducing Mediterranean cuisine, culture, and lifestyle to Beijing, is Migas. This stylish restaurant, rooftop bar, and lounge offers its own variety of distinct flavors. “An oasis in a busy metropolis,” this is the perfect place to enjoy a bite, a cocktail, and watch the sunset.

Enjoy the modern decor as you delve in. Wooden floors, plants, modern furniture, and fluffy pillows all add to the comfort of the experience. The splendid views make it a great scenic point, especially in the evenings. Make sure to try their Spanish ham, tapas, or paella with a glass of Sangria to make it authentic!

Note: at the time of writing (01-2020) Migas is in renovation, be sure to check before visiting.

4. Shang Palace (Shangri-La Hotel Beijing)

One of the most iconic Chinese restaurants in Beijing, Shang Palace is an award-winning culinary experience. With healthy dining, great staff, and delightful food options, this place is great for hosting business or casual gatherings.

Try the Hong Kong style Dim Sum, mouthwatering jujube-roasted Peking Duck, or any of the other 150 gourmet dishes available. As well, be sure to grab a drink and enjoy the great views.

5. Atmosphere Bar (Shangri-la)

Also in the Shangri-la Hotel, Atmosphere Bar sits on the 80th floor of the building. Not surprisingly, it offers one of the most breathtaking views of the city. The bar displays its own sophisticated style that makes it perfect for an evening cocktail over some live music.

Visit the bar for its “atmosphere” and see for yourself the views of Beijing from its floor to ceiling windows.

Best Restaurant Views in Beijing

All in all, the best restaurant will depend on the style of food you wish to taste. It is probably no surprise now why Beijing has its own foodie culture. As far as views go, any of these options will have you reaching for your phone to snap a few pictures. You are sure to have a memorable experience.

As well, you will have your choice of culinary; anything from steak, to lobster, roast duck, or dumplings. Even if you have already eaten, you might simply enjoy a cocktail “in the clouds.” Most importantly, however, be sure to enjoy your time there. Welcome to Paradise!

With over 7000 tropical islands to choose from, it comes as no surprise that the Philippines are becoming a must-visit destination for travelers from all around the globe. Home to shimmering clear waters, sparkling white sand coasts, rice terraces, outstanding surfing spots, and incredible diving sites, the Philippines offer something for everyone.

Located in South-East Asia, between the Philippine and South China Seas, this incredible archipelago is packed with many breathtaking beaches. All of which form one of the longest coastlines in the world!

Where To?

One thing is for sure, among all of the 7,641 islands, there’s one for every liking. From volcanoes, popular surfing hubs, hidden tranquil lagoons, to island tours, the Philippines will surprise everyone with its natural beauty. As well as its friendly and welcoming local people.

To visit each of the many islands for just a day would take around 20 years. For those that wish to go to just a few places and for 20 days instead of years, we’ve created the following list. These are the top 5 places, we believe everyone should visit during their trip to the Philippines.

1. Bohol

The 10th largest island in the Philippines, Bohol greets its visitors with a wide range of options. All kinds of things to do and things to see. This island province is widely famous for its cute hand size googly-eyed tarsiers and the grand Chocolate Hills. However, there’s much more to experience in Bohol.

In the center of the island, visitors can enjoy some fun activities in nature. Ziplining, visits to the caves, waterfall climbing, cruising, kayaking and paddle-boarding on a jungle-surrounded river are just a few of the many fun activities. South of the island, on the other hand, is all about world-class offshore diving. There you will find pure white-sandy beaches and lounging with a cocktail of choice.

Some of the places not to be missed are: Chocolate Hills, Panglao Island, Alona Beach, Loboc River, Hinagdanan Cave, Tarsier Sanctuary, Nalusuan Island.

2. Coron Island

Located in the northern part of Palawan province is the breathtaking Coron Island. The island is popular for its incredible scenery surrounded by limestone karst cliffs, fine beaches, and the famed turquoise lagoons.

It is also known as one of the best places to go to for crystal-clear freshwater, shallow-water coral reefs, and some of the world’s best shipwreck diving. The ships date back to 1944 and were the Japanese supply and warships sunk by an American Air attack in WWII.

Coron Island can be reached by a short 20-minute boat ride from Coron Town. This majestic fortress-like set of islands is covered with lakes, among which Kayangan and Barracuda Lake can be visited.

Some of the places not to be missed are: Twin Lagoon, Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, Malcapuya Island, Bulog Island, Banana Island.

Travel Tip: Book a private boat tour in Coron Town harbor to Coron Island in the early hours to enjoy all the best spots. This way you can reach the best locations before the group tour crowds arrive.

3. El Nido

El Nido, a small village located off the tip of Palawan Island. This world-wide famous village is full of dramatic rock formations and the entire area is surrounded by bright turquoise waters. More importantly, it is an archipelago of Bacuit, which is considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful bays. The beauty of El Nido and its locations make it one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

El Nido and Palawan, in general, are filled with crystal white sand beaches. Each more beautiful than the last. Not to mention, the paradise islands that can be visited by boat. There, visitors can choose to dive, snorkel, kayak or paddle.

Some of the places not to be missed are: Small and Big Lagoon, Port Barton, Las Cabanas Beach, Nacpan Beach and Miniloc Island, Entalula Beach, Secret Beach.

4. Siargao

Siargao island was, until recently, one of the Philippines’ best-kept secrets. This tear-drop shaped island is covered in a “sea of palm trees” and surrounded by spectacular turquoise waters.

Siargao is often referred to as the “surfing capital of the Philippines,”. This is thanks to its world-class surf breaks for surf lovers of all levels. If you are not a surfing enthusiast, don’t worry! This paradise-like place has so many more activities you can consider doing.

Visitors can go paddle-boarding through ancient mangroves, relax on a beach, or go for one of the many daily tours to the nearby islands. This eco-friendly destination will have plenty to offer its visitors, both on land and sea.

Some of the places not to be missed are: Naked Island, Guyam, Daku, Coco Rope Swing, Magpupungko rock pools, Tayangban caves

5. Socorro Sohoton Cove

Often referred to as “El Nido of the South”, Sohoton Cove National Park in Bucas Grande Island is one of the most famous overnight or daily tours. Located two-hours away by boat from General Luna and less than two hours from Del Sur (Siargao island). This National Park is famous for its outstanding natural beauty.

The Sohoton Cove is covered with hilltops, valleys, impeccable soft-sandy beaches, stunning forests, and scenic mountains. Besides being immersed in the beauty of nature, visitors have a wide choice of activities and fun experiences here. Diving, luminescent cave exploring, or swimming with stingless jellyfish.

One thing is for sure, Sohoton Cove always amazes its visitors, with its various caves, lagoons, beaches, and overall natural beauty.

Tip: If you are a drone owner, don’t leave it behind on the day of your tour! This is considered one of the most beautiful places to fly a drone around.

Some of the places not to be missed are: Blue Lagoon (Titikan Lagoon), Crystal Cave, Hagukan Cave, Magkuku-ob Cave

Getting Around The Philippines

As with any destination, the public transport system is great, however, it can get quite crowded and chaotic.Don’t start off your trip on a crowded bus, with your luggage, trying to figure out where to go.

For this reason, we recommend hiring a private car service with a reliable company that can accommodate your schedule. “If you are passing through Guangzhou for a day, what should you go see?” Guangzhou (also ‘Canton’) is one of China’s most bustling cities. The arguable “Capital of the South,” is one of China’s cultural and historical centers. As such, it has no shortage of things to do.

Whether you prefer tasting new foods, visiting historical sites, catching up on some shopping, or strolling through parks, Guangzhou can accommodate. This city has it all! For that very reason, however, it’s not easy to plan a trip for a single day. Nevertheless, we’ve done our best to gather a few great options of must-see places in Guangzhou.

What Should I do in Guangzhou?

You shouldn’t expect to accomplish ALL of these in a single day. Unless you are hoping to catch up on exercise by jogging everywhere, it’s best to pick a few and see how it goes. Still, even just seeing a few of these will make your trip well-worth the visit. After all, you can’t expect to get too much done in just one day, right?

1. Guangzhou Opera House

Guangzhou Opera house

A jewel in this big metropolis, the Guangzhou Opera House is one of southern China’s premier performance venues. Designed by British architect Zaha Hadid, these two ‘pebbles by the Pearl River’ serve as home to the city’s fine arts. Here you can watch a theatrical or dance performance, or listen to an opera.

2. Yuexiu Park (5 Rams Sculpture)

If the weather permits, parks are a great way to enjoy the outdoors in the city. Yuexiu Park is just north of the downtown area and is Guangzhou’s biggest park. Here you will find the famous 5 Rams Sculpture, a symbol of the city, and the Zhenhai Tower, a five-story pagoda housing a small museum.

3. Shamian Island (Liwan District)

The most “European” side of Guangzhou. Shamian Island, like the Bund in Shanghai, serves as a picturesque example of British and French influence. This colonial European neighborhood and its pedestrian avenues are perfect for exploring. For anyone interested, this area is also known as a “hotspot” for photographers.

4. Canton Tower

Arguably Guangzhou’s most-famous landmark, the Guangzhou Tower, or Canton Tower, rises high above the city. Once China’s tallest tower, this structure is still one of the most iconic. Consider riding to the top of the tower to one of the observation decks, or simply enjoying the tower’s surroundings. A short walk away, you can find the Party Pier Plaza, host to a number of restaurants, hotels, banks, clubs, and bars.

5. Shopping: Beijing and Tianhe Roads

Beijing Road Pedestrian Street and the Tianhe Road Commercial Area are two must-visit places for shoppers. These are two of the city’s most prosperous commercial centers. Moreover, aside from great shopping, you will also find a great selection of restaurants and several historic sites. Thus, offering a great contrast of the new and traditional local culture.

6. Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King

Quite close to the Yuexiu Park, sits the Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King. The tomb belongs to King Zhao Mo, and is where he has been, in a full jade burial suit, for over 2000 years.

The tomb itself is composed of over 700 large stones decorated with colorful murals on slabs. The King is buried 20 meters (66 feet) underground and shares his tomb with ancient bronze-ware, terracotta, jade, and even by 15 human sacrifices! All in all, the museum serves as a showcase of the city’s construction for the past 2200 years.

7. Baiyun Mountain

Hiking is a great idea in any city. Getting outdoors, walking in nature, and all while appreciating the best views of the cityscape. Whether you prefer hiking in the morning or in the evening, the views from Baiyun Mountain are spectacular! If you are feeling particularly energetic, walk through the trails and get firsthand skyviews of Guangzhou’s downtown area.

8. Nine-storey Pagoda: The Temple of the Six Banyan Trees

No trip to a Chinese city would be complete without visiting the local temples. If you only have time to see one, The Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, also Liurong Temple, is your best bet. Though there are still a few Banyan trees left in the Buddhist temple’s grounds, the real attraction is its Nine-storey Pagoda. This ornate pagoda stands tall over the tranquil temple; offering a fantastic contrast to the busy city that surrounds it.

9. Guangzhou Folk Arts Museum

Located in the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, built during the Qing dynasty, is home to the Guangdong Folk Art Museum. Here you will find a large collection of wood carvings, pottery, stone and brick carvings, and other traditional artifacts. As well, you can find local folk artists and exhibitions all year round.

Hong Kong to Shenzhen via Futian Port

Traveling between Hong Kong and Shenzhen can be quite simple. The only thing you need to keep in mind is that you must cross through a customs border between both territories.

Admittedly, having to cross a border between these two territories may seem strange, at first. However, though they are both a part of the People’s Republic of China, they share a “one country, two systems” agreement.

Therefore, as with any border between two countries, Hong Kong and China Mainland require you to go through an immigration process. Meaning, officers at both sides will check your passport and validate you for exit or entry. All in all, there is no need to worry, the process is simple, so long as you prepare in advance.

Futian Port

Futian Port, or Fútián Kǒu’àn (福田口岸), is an immigration port of entry in Shenzhen’s Futian District. It is also one of the most convenient ports, as it connects to both Shenzhen and Hong Kong (Lok Ma Chau) metro lines. Additionally, both sides are joined by a pedestrian bridge, making it one of the quickest borders to get across.

This border is sometimes confused with Huanggang Port, or Huánggǎng Kǒu’àn (皇岗口岸), due to its close proximity. Though the two borders are in fact different, it is useful to know they are nearby. This is because the Futian Port closes at midnight (00:00) and doesn’t open again until 6:30 AM, the next morning. Huanggang Port, on the other hand, is open 24-hours.

What Should I Prepare?

The two things you must absolutely have with you are your Passport and a valid visa for entry into Mainland China. Though Hong Kong offers a visa on arrival (VoA) for most nationalities, China is significantly more restrictive.

Only a few nationalities are permitted to apply for a VoA at the Hong Kong – China border. If you would like to know whether or not your country is eligible for a VoA, you can visit our article about this here. Nevertheless, in recent years, China has made it more accessible for business and transit visitors to receive a short-stay VoA.

It is imperative that visitors make sure they can receive a VoA. Otherwise, they may be turned away at the border. Anyone looking to enter Mainland China, that doesn’t meet the requirements for a VoA, should visit their local Chinese Embassy or Consulate to apply for a visa there.

What Can I Expect At The Futian Border?

As with any immigration checkpoint, what you can expect is quite standard. You will enter the immigration building and pass through the routine security checks. Once your luggage has passed through the x-ray machine, you will proceed to queue up and await an available counter.

At the counter, an officer will check your passport and visa. Then, once you have been cleared by the officer, you will go through and onto the Arrivals counters on the other side. There, the process repeats. Finally, after you have successfully cleared the second counter, you can exit the building and proceed to your final destination in the city.

How Long Does it Take to Get Across?

The actual duration for crossing the border depends on the time at which you cross. This is because thousands of people commute between the two territories, every day. As such, if you happen to cross at peak hours, you can expect a significantly longer waiting time.

As a general estimate, crossing at low-traffic hours could take about 20 minutes. On the contrary, crossing at peak hours or during public holidays could take as long as 1-2 hours, due to the long queues. We recommend you plan ahead to avoid the commuters that are coming and going.

Best Way to Get From Hong Kong to Shenzhen?

If you are new to the area or simply looking for the most efficient option to cross the border, we recommend using a reliable car service. Public transport and taxis can be confusing and, at times, unreliable.

Rather than worry about transport, it is easier to prepare for this in advance and travel with a trusted company. One that offers professional local drivers and 24-hour customer assistance. This way, you will have one less thing to worry about.

All things considered, the Futian Port is a great option for crossing between Mainland China and Hong Kong. Though there are many other ports between the two territories, the exact point of entry really depends on your intended destination. We hope this article has helped answer your questions about crossing the border and we wish you safe travels!

]]>
At only 50 kilometers (31 miles) apart, Shenzhen and Hong Kong are close neighbors. To go from one to the other can take from 20 minutes to an hour or more, depending on the specific points of your departure and destination. However, even though these two cities technically belong to China, they share a border like any other you would see between two countries.

This is because Hong Kong was previously a British colony, and when it was given back to China an agreement was signed that would maintain its independent culture and laws for a given period of time. Nonetheless, that resulted in a controlled border crossing that you will have to pass through, if you plan on hopping over to either side.

Best Way From Shenzhen to Hong Kong

Even though there is a clear borderline through which everyone must pass to get from one city to the other, there are numerous points of entry through which you can pass. The “best” point of entry depends entirely on where you are in Shenzhen, and where you are going in Hong Kong. One such point of entree is the Shenzhen Wan Port crossing.

Shenzhen Wan Port

The Shenzhen Wan Port (深圳湾口岸) border crossing offers an easy experience for travelers, as both the China Mainland border officers’ counters and the Hong Kong border officers’ counters are located within the same building. Essentially, allowing you to enter the building from one jurisdiction and exit the same building already in the next jurisdiction.

Additionally, this border has the option of buses at either side that travel well into either city. As well as, vehicle-accessible checkpoints whereby you can take a shuttle from one of the local providers or ride in your own pre-arranged car service.

Nevertheless, this border does have a few limitations worth noting:

 1. This border is not open 24-hours – The border is open from 6:30 – 24:00, meaning if you arrive between the hours of 00:00 – 6:30, you should arrange to go through the Huanggang Port (皇岗口岸) crossing, as this is the only border open 24-hours.

 2. No metro/subway option – Though not an issue for many travelers, it is worth noting that this border crossing is neither accessible through the Hong Kong MTR nor through the Shenzhen Metro. Only buses, taxis, and cars have access to this border.

Shenzhen – Hong Kong Border Crossing

What to Expect When Crossing the Shenzhen – Hong Kong Border?

As with any other border crossing, you can expect the same standard security checks: x-ray machines, metal detectors, and officers checking passports at their counters. As you enter through one side of the border, you may need to pass your luggage through an x-ray machine, after which, there will be a queue as you wait for an available counter.

From there, the officer at the counter will check your passport for exit clearance, then you will walk across the border to the other side where you will likely be scanned by a temperature sensor, to ensure you are not ill. Another line will await you on the other side.

Once you arrive at the next line of counters, another officer will check your passport to clear you for entry. After this second check, you will officially be on the other side and now your only worry will be locating the best form of transport.

Alternatively, if you decide to cross more comfortably from inside a car, you will simply board the vehicle at one end, pass through two booths (similar to toll booths on a highway), an officer will check your passport at either booth, and once you have been cleared your driver will take you wherever you need to go.

What Should I Prepare Before Crossing?

You should definitely make sure you have your Passport, a valid visa, and proof of funds before crossing. Visas for Hong Kong are given on arrival for most nationalities, however, visas-on-arrival for China are only available to a select group of nationalities. Make sure to check if your country applies, if not then be sure to arrange for a visa before arriving.

Finally, the proof of funds may not be entirely necessary, however you shouldn’t be surprised if the border officer asks how you plan to pay for your visit. At which point you can show them you have sufficient cash or credit cards that you will be using during your stay.

Best Way to Get From Shenzhen to Hong Kong

Hong Kong Airport Transfers and Transfers into Hong Kong

As mentioned previously, the best way to get around Hong Kong and Shenzhen is with your own reliable private car service. This is because public transport, taxis, and local drivers can be crowded, unreliable, or downright unqualified at times.

Traveling with the comfort of being driven by a professional local driver and having 24-hour customer assistance is an invaluable asset. We would recommend you consider booking a private car on your next visit, so you have one less thing to worry about.

Traveling From Shenzhen to Hong Kong

All in all, the best route depends on your individual needs. Shenzhen has borders to Hong Kong in almost all its districts and regardless of where you need to arrive, you are likely to find a great option at all border crossings. Shenzhen Wan is one option for crossing that hundreds of thousands of travelers go through each day.

NOTE:

One last tip, be sure to plan ahead so you aren’t crossing during a holiday or at peak hours, simply to avoid the hassle of having to wait in line for hours on end. A little planning beforehand can save you hours on the day of your trip. We encourage you to leave us a comment about your personal experience crossing this border. Most importantly, we hope you have a wonderful trip!

Welcome to One of the Most Celebrated Ski Areas of Japan!

Niseko is located in Hokkaido, Japan and is one of the most celebrated ski areas of Japan. Some would argue that Niseko is the powder capital of the world! Finding Sapporo airport transfers to Niseko hotels and resorts is more convenient than ever. Most international travelers will fly into Tokyo airport, and then catch their final flight to Sapporo.

Located 106km from New Chitose (Sapporo) Airport it takes approximately 2-hour drive to reach Niseko. While there are different transportation options available, you can generally expect to trade price for convenience and flexibility.

Depending on the time of day or night you are arriving, some local transportation options may not be available to use, so it is recommended that you book your transfer in advance. Especially around Christmas, New Year or Lunar New Year time.

These Are the Best Transportation Options From Sapporo Airport to Niseko Ski Resorts and Hotels:

There are three main modes of transportation from Sapporo New Chitose Airport to Hakuba. Those are: train, private car, and bus. Each option varies on the 4 key areas of concern you should consider regarding this journey:

 1. Time: How many hours do I have to spend to get from Sapporo Airport to my Niseko destination?

 2. Convenience: How many transit switches and different modes of transport will I have to make?

 3. Comfort: How comfortable am I sharing a full vehicle, and walking with all my luggage for varying distances at different points in the journey?

 4. Cost: What is my budget for this journey? Am I willing to spend more for a reduced time, increased convenience, and comfort?

Note: There is also a town called Niseko, but more often, Niseko is used to refer to the four interconnected ski resorts, so it is best to know which area your final destination will be. The largest is Hirafu. Then there is Niseko Village, Annupuri and Hanazono. Niseko town is about 7-8km from the resorts in Niseko Village and Annupuri.

Sapporo To Niseko by Train

Travel Time: 3-4 hours

Convenience: Low

Comfort Level: Medium

Travel Cost: $$

Summary & Recommendation:

There are local trains operating with several stops, including Sapporo to Niseko. There will be one stop in between, at Otaru Station, where you will be required to switch from the Airport express to a local train.

Regular train service runs from 8 am to 7 pm, and the trains depart every couple of hours. The train terminal is on the basement level of the airport. It is not necessary to arrange for reservations or tickets beforehand. You can simply buy a ticket when you arrive at the station. However, during the winter the trains may be stopped or cancelled due to severe snow storms.

Travel Steps in Detail:

Step 1: From New Chitose Airport, follow the signs to the train station platform and buy a ticket.

Sapporo To Niseko by Bus

The buses run as late as 9pm, and during good weather, they can often be faster than the train.

Buses depart every 30 minutes from the airport to drop-off points in the three major resorts in Niseko – Hirafu, Niseko Village and Annupuri. Most buses will make a rest stop half way, and some will make an additional drop-off at Rusutsu. We recommend arranging your bus trip ahead of time.

The buses tend to run more frequently during the high ski season in winter.

Traveling From Tokyo Airport to Hakuba Resort

Hakuba is located 292 km northwest of Tokyo (Haneda) International Airport, and about 338 km from Narita International Airport. It is located on the island of Honshu, which is the main island of Japan. This large area encompasses 11 popular ski resorts and various villages. There are several options for Tokyo airport transfers to your Hakuba hotel or resort.

A Narita Airport transfer to Hakuba is your last step when planning the perfect trip to this famous ski resort area. These are also the best options for Haneda airport transfers to Hakuba.

Transportation Options from Tokyo (Narita or Haneda airports) to Hakuba:

There are three main modes of transportation from Tokyo Airport to Hakuba. Those are: bullet train, private car, and shuttle bus. Each option varies on the 4 key areas of concern you should consider regarding this journey:

 1. Time: How many hours do I have to spend to get from Tokyo Airport to my Hakuba destination?

Note: With the distance covered from Tokyo Airport to Hakuba, it is best to decide your most favorable transportation option based on what time you will arrive in Tokyo. If it is after hours, you will have limited options, and this is when hiring a private car service would be most beneficial.

Tokyo Airport to Hakuba by Bullet Train

Travel Time: 4 hours

Convenience: Low

Comfort Level: Medium

Travel Cost: $$

Summary & Recommendation:

This is a multi-step transport option for those that are keen to experience taking the Shinkansen Bullet Train. It is like taking the scenic route from the airport to Hakuba – great for those who are not in a hurry to get to Hakuba, but perhaps want the experience of riding the bullet train, and to get an introductory glimpse into Japanese culture.

It is possible to do this from either Narita or Haneda, however, the overall cost is a bit more than the other options available to get to your Hakuba ski destination.

Travel Steps in Detail:

Step 1: Narita Express

From Narita Airport, head to the Narita Express Train Station, located in the basement below the airport. Follow the signs. Then board the Narita Express to Tokyo Station which will take about 1 ½ hours. You can purchase tickets there or in advance here. From Haneda Airport, take the Keikyu Airport’s Rapid Limited Express train, which will get you to Shinagawa station in about 16 minutes. At Shinagawa station you can then transfer to the bullet train.

Step 2: Shinkansen Bullet Train

From Shinagawa station, take the Nagano Bullet Train (Shinkansen) to Nagano, which will take another 1 ½ hours. The bullet trains leave Tokyo station every 20 minutes, from about 6:30am through 10pm. Again, these tickets can be purchased directly at the station. For more information, you can go here.

Step 3: From Nagano, there are two options: taxi or bus.

 • Taxi – if you arrive in Nagao after 10pm, this will be your only option, and will take approximately one hour’s drive time to your final destination in Hakuba.
 • Bus – the Alpico bus will take you from Nagano to Hakuba “Happo Information Centre” Bus terminal. The buses run every hour, until 10pm. You can catch the bus at the east exit of Nagano Station, bus stop number 6. Tickets can be purchased at the kiosk on ground level, or directly from the driver if you have correct change.

Tokyo Airports to Hakuba by Private Car

Travel Time: 3-4 hours

Convenience: High

Comfort Level: High

Travel Cost: Get Quote

Summary & Recommendation:

Hiring a car service is by far the most convenient, reliable and stress-free way to get around. This mode of transport is expeditious, smooth, and safe. Having a car waiting for you upon your arrival takes away the local transportation hassle. Especially in an Asian country where so often public transportation tends to get a bit chaotic and confusing.

Hakuba airport transfer by a car service takes the hustle and bustle out the final leg of your journey with its professional English speaking customer support team and 24 hour availability. Wifi in the car is also available should you require it. Booking a car service online is simple and takes very little time to arrange.

Travel Steps in Detail:

Step 1: Simply meet your driver in the terminal – they will be holding a sign with your name on it in the airport terminal meeting area. He will then help get your luggage to the car

Step 2: Enjoy a comfortable, air-conditioned ride directly to your final destination in Hakuba.

Tokyo Airport to Hakuba by Shuttle Bus

Travel Time: 5-6 hours

Convenience: Medium

Comfort Level: High

Travel Cost: $$

Summary & Recommendation:

The bus is the most affordable form of transport from the airport to the Hakuba ski resorts. You can take the Nagano Snow Shuttle from either the Narita or Haneda airports. It is a large, comfortable coach, departing three times a day from Narita (9am, 12 am and 8:30pm) and once a day from Haneda (9:30am). This is a good option if you land at the airport in the evening. Buses depart at select times and reservations are required in advance.

They offer daily service from the airports directly to your hotel in Hakuba. While this method may cost a little more, it provides the advantage of not having to lug your bags on and off trains and buses, and not have to deal with time tables.

Travel Steps in Detail:

Step 1: Make your way to the bus counter inside the arrivals lobby

Step 2: Board the appropriate bus. The meeting point is usually outside Terminal 2 in Narita airport, and the International Terminal in Haneda Airport.

Step 3: Ride to Hakuba, with some stops along the way.
